Catholics who interprets the Bible?

According to your doctrine, the church is only allowed to do this. So is this true? Do you not interpret scripture unless through a priest or the vatican? What are they afraid of, if you, yes you, read the Bible, not the Catholic apocryphal version but the true version and allowed you to interpret it for yourself? Would it possibly mean that you may learn that salvation is a free gift of grace through Christ alone?
